They do look to be in nice condition. I like the fact that they have the 416-8B woofers (my favorite 416) and the 902 h.f. drivers (great sounding extended bandwidth tangerine phase plug drivers). However, this is the second pair that has been posted here in the last 24 hours that has a 500 hz crossover being used with 811B horns. Am I missing something or is this NOT a "recommended"/ideal combination? From this ad "The crossover is the N501 8B which is very good and was the standard issue for these A7's." And he brags (in the question/answer section at the bottom of the ad) "Also, I noticed that these are the late model 811 horns with sound deadening between the cells. It reduces the ringing about 70% at extreme high volume." His photos aren't the best but they look to be good sized horns--are they 511's (which I would think should be far preferable with the N501 crossovers) or do they look like 811's (as the seller states) to you guys? On a side note, is the N501 crossover a "good" match with a 902 driver? I know the 902's in my Model 14's sound great, but the Model 14 crossover has h.f. compensation designed for use with the 902-- is the N501 crossover really a good fit with a 902? Are these Frankensteins/mutants? I have no idea about the 902/N501 combo, but AFAIK the N501/811B combo is a "no no".....

And this pair in Baltimore that was posted here yesterday -- I'm positive about these horns -- nice clear photos http://baltimore.craigslist.org/ele/2316604565.html clearly has 811B horns being used with the N501-8A crossover. Isn't that a combination that is not recommended/far less than ideal due to the 811b's (rated) frequency response? Are these Frankensteins/mutants?

The seller in Alabama also states (in the question and answer section):

"Q: Hello, Are those the late model made out of MDF? Cheers Mattos Apr-22-11
A: Yes...and they DO SOUND BETTER THAN the Plywood ones. The 2 plus coats of porch/floor enamel has sealed the cabinets better as well."

I've never heard that MDF cabs sound better than plywood ones--is that likely in this case?
